The easy way to find your lost items
Searching for the remote control, can’t remember where you left your keys, where did we park the car or where’s that cat disappeared to? Now developers at StickNFind have the answer, they have developed stickers the size of a coin that you adhere to any object you may have trouble finding and the signal is sent back to your mobile device telling you approximately where the item is.
The stickers send a signal via Bluetooth and sync with your smartphone app, where you can view a radar screen telling you roughly what direction and how far the item is. The range is about 100ft and the sticker will buzz and light up also. Battery life is around a year and a replacement battery is a CR2016 watch battery. Devices that can use the app are iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPad, and Samsung S3 but more phones are being tested also.
From the app you can “pair” stickers that are in close proximity which allow you to locate your items rather than the neighbours, if they are using the same devices. There is no need to set up your Bluetooth menu as the app takes care of everything. You can have up to 20 stickers being tracked.
The StickNFind stickers used in conjunction with the app also enable other features such as changing your phones ringtone, launching other apps and settings that you may want when in a certain proximity, for example turning your phone to silent when entering a boardroom or meeting.
Some of the uses for SticNFind put forward by the developers have been locating, pets, keys, wallets, briefcases, cameras, luggage at the airport and even the kids. The group expect to release the stickers and app by March 2013.
How about putting a sticker on your mother in law’s hand bag ? Then when you pull up home your alarm goes off and you can ring explaining you’re going to be late!
